Food Allergy Fund Rings NYSE Opening Bell

Food Allergy Fund Rings The Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange to Raise Awareness during Food Allergy Awareness Month

Washington, D.C. (May 30, 2019) – The Food Allergy Fund joined fellow Food Allergy Advocates and Chris Taylor, Vice President, NYSE Listings and Services, to ring The Opening Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange on May 30, 2019 as part of Food Allergy Awareness Month.

“I’m honored and thrilled for this opportunity to raise national awareness about food allergies,” said Ilana Golant, Founder and CEO of the Food Allergy Fund. “We are committed to raising more awareness of this emerging public health concern to increase funding for scientific research into the underlying causes and improved treatments for food allergies.”

Researchers estimate close to six million children—out of 32 million Americans overall—are affected by food allergies. That's one in 13 children, or roughly two in every classroom, a 50% increase from 1997 to 2011. Every three minutes a person goes to the emergency room for an allergic reaction and one in 10 adults has a food allergy.
