The Challenge
Food allergies are an emerging public health crisis. In recent years, life-threatening food allergies have become increasingly common, especially among children, and impose significant costs on American families.
Food allergies in children increased 50% between 1997 and 2011
Food allergy care costs American families $25 billion annually

About 30% of children with food allergies are allergic to more than one food

In 40% of cases allergic reactions to food are considered life-threatening
